Learn Databases from Tico the Fairy!

October 10th, 2008 by The Oracle Alchemist

It seems I’m not the only one who has thought to use cartoons to explain databases to others. On Amazon, you can now pre-order The Manga Guide to Databases, a graphic novel about database technology.

Follow Tico the Fairy as she teaches Princess Ruruna how to simply management of her nation with a well made database.

Why not? Google used a comic to sell their new Chrome browser, after all!

    >> a graphic novel

A graphic novel with fairies? You make it sound so dirty!

Fairies have been teaching DBA concepts for decades, I guess it’s time for a formal book on the subject.

I pre-ordered my copy, we will soon see if Tico is a “Fairy Good DBA” . . . .

    Hi ,

Is it possible to take unused index percentage…

    Eg:-

I go for indexing 6 column in a table. Using monitoring i can find which is used and which is not used. But if i know the percentage used for all index that i have created ..Based on the index percentage i can drop it right…

If you got to know the answer please helpme

I can think of a dozen off-color fairy jokes right now but I will refrain from indulging… But I am intrigued enough to order the book. If nothing else, it may subtly entice my daughter to read a DBA book and follow in her daddy’s footsteps in this profession.
