Some Oracle Community News

With all the posts on Hadoop lately I bet you forgot I am an Oracle geek too, huh?

Well, if the name OracleAlchemist wasn’t enough to remind you, I have some news that might. Two big things have happened this week that I’d like to share.

OracleCommunity.net

OracleCommunity.net

Eddie Awad–the industrious social Oracle junkie who runs OraNA–has transferred ownership of OracleCommunity.net to me. The site has a little over 10,500 members and combines blogging, Facebook/Twitter-style features, and forums into an Oracle specific social community. Thus far I’ve given it a bit of a face lift and cleaned up some of the navigation, but I’m hoping to do a lot more with it. If you have any input into things you’d like to see, let me know!

That being said, please do join the community. The most important thing we can do is get some high quality content on there and that means getting you, the Oracle Community, involved! Even if you’re just linking to your blog posts, events, pics, etc. you can benefit many people by posting and getting the community flourishing.

Oracle ACE

No, not the comic. The organization! I saw a fantastic tweet the other day:

In addition to four other well deserving members of the community, I’ve been re-accepted into the Oracle ACE Program! I was an ACE back around 2007/8, but after a period of inactivity was put into the ACE Alumnus category. I’m happy to be back and involved in the Oracle Community and proud to be reinstated as an Oracle ACE. Hopefully this is the beginning of great things to come and more collaboration with the wonderful wide world of Oracle.

Thank you Kyle Hailey, Tim Hall, Yury Velikanov, and others for supporting my nomination!
